AUS-SPEC, developed by the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA) and updated by NATSPEC, is the comprehensive specification system for the life-cycle management of assets for local government. AUS-SPEC covers specification for buildings, roads, bridges, parks, water supply, sewerage systems and stormwater drainage. It is a national, quality document, which is consistent, uniform, effective and efficient and makes provision for implementing local requirements.

The AUS-SPEC Asset Management Benchmark Survey is intended to assist Local Councils determine priority action for asset management by measuring key indicators. The survey results will allow councils to benchmark their performance against others and will be presented in August at the IPWEA International Public Works Conference 2011.
