Student Survey on Perceptions and Experiences of Diversity
Dear College of Arts & Sciences Student:
The College of Arts & Sciences is seeking to understand the diverse values, needs, and circumstances of our students, staff, and faculty. Before we plan to improve the way we work together on issues of “diversity” and inclusion in the college, we need to know more about the perceptions and experiences of people who study and work in the college.
The information gathered through this survey will be used to develop ideas and methods for promoting a culture and practices in the College of Arts & Sciences that maximizes student, staff, and faculty success. Please take a few minutes to answer the following questions to better assist us with improving our understanding and approaches to “diversity” in the college. It will take approximately 10 - 15 minutes.
Your answers will be confidential and read only by the members of the Dean’s Diversity Committee. We will not be able to identify you once you submit your responses using Survey Monkey. We will not collect or maintain any identifying information and will never report information from the research in a way that focuses on or identifies any individual.
There are no known risks to you in completing the survey. It asks, in part about your experiences and it is possible this may bring up unpleasant memories for you. If this occurs, free support or assistance is available through the Employee Assistance Program (wellness.nmsu.edu/eap/) for employees or the Counseling Center (www.nmsu.edu/~counsel/cc/services/index.html) for students.
You are not obligated to complete any of the questions and if you begin the survey, may stop at any time. While complete information will be valuable to our understanding, there is no penalty for skipping questions or not completing the questionnaire. Completion of the survey will imply your consent to participate. You will be given the option at the end of the questionnaire to enter a drawing for a Barnes and Noble gift card whether you complete none, part or all of the questionnaire.
If you have any questions about this survey please email the members of the College of Arts & Sciences Diversity Committee at: email@example.com. If you have questions or concerns regarding your rights as a research participant, please contact the Office of Compliance within the Vice President for Research office at 646-7177 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your help with our efforts.
