The future of the European Harm Reduction Network - sustainability and democratic governance

The European Harm Reduction Network (EUROHRN) was created in 2010 by ten organisations based in different EU Member States, with a shared interest in advocating for and sharing knowledge on harm reduction within Europe. It has been funded through 2 consequent grants received by the European Commission under the Drugs and Prevention Information Programme. Current funding will come to an end in December 2014. Discussions have started at the level of network coordinator and Steering Committee on the sustainability of the network and future network governance.

The aim of the survey:

The aim of the survey carried out through this questionnaire, is to seek EUROHRN members’ opinions and to provide input in the future of the network, its structure and sustainability. The outcomes of the survey will informe the Steering Committee’s work towards an action plan for the future of the network, to be presented and ratified in EUROHRN meeting in Amsterdam in October 2014.

The questionnaire’s structure:

The questionnaire looks at elements of governance and sustainability of EUROHRN. It takes stock of results of previous members’ surveys, in particular with reference to the identification of the network’s priorities and areas of interest for the members.

It seeks members’ views on three main areas related to the future functioning of the network:

1.Needs and priorities for actions are listed, as identified in previous surveys, for a confirmation of top priorities and identification of new areas which might have arise to members attention in the meantime.

2.Governance: looking at how to structure the future of the network governance in a sustainable and more democratic way

3.Members’ engagement and contributions: looking and how members can more actively contribute to the future life and activities of the network
