The Board of Dental Examiners has asked the Alabama Dental Association (ALDA) to explore the possibility of jointly sponsoring legislation that would allow the formal education of certified, licensed Expanded Duty Assistants in Alabama. The proposal by the Board is described as a proactive approach to addressing access to care in Alabama with an "Alabama Solution" completely proposed by Alabama Dentists as opposed to waiting for Midlevel Providers to be proposed as the "Solution" from outside sources. The purpose of this survey is to gauge the support of ALDA members for Expanded Duty Assistants with limited chairside duties.
