The Fraser Coast boasts two airports and is ideally positioned to accommodate Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO) operations to the resource sector. Council is working with the aviation industry to develop these access routes for employees to “live here” and “work there”.
Purpose of Survey:
The region has in the vicinity of 2,000 employees working in the resource sector. The survey is aimed at collecting information on:
• Number of employees working in the resource sector;
• How employees travel to work sites ie Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO), Drive-In-Drive-Out (DIDO);
• Location of work sites; and
• What assistance is provided by the employer.
This information will assist the aviation industry in engaging with mining companies to develop viable FIFO routes.
