4-14-15 Community Care Naloxone Conference |
Sponsored by Community Care Behavioral Health Organization and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Center for Continuing Education in the Health Sciences, this conference focuses on the rising prevalence of illicit opioid use and the resulting epidemic of overdoses in our community. Prescribing naloxone with opioids can decrease overdose deaths; naloxone is a short acting opioid antagonist that improves individuals’ ability to breathe until other medical treatment can be provided.
This conference is intended for individuals in treatment, families, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, certified peer specialists, and others interested in behavioral health services. This conference is free of charge.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the program participants should be able to:
• Explain how Naloxone can –prevent overdose deaths.
• List one new best practice with using Naloxone in treatment settings.
• Describe how overdose affects families.
