Please only answer the questions you feel comfortable with and know that whatever you write will be kept confidential and used only for the purposes of assisting you during your sessions together. Have you advised the hospital / birth centre / staff that a professional photographer will be attending your birth? Would you like to have a back-up photographer available to capture your birth? For Birth Photography Bookings: Considerations There are often times when I provide support to the labouring mother and others attending the labour – provide drinks, positive affirmations, engage with children, physical support… Although my objective is to provide you with outstanding photography, I will always stop to contribute to the health and wellbeing of the mother and baby as needed. Are you happy for me to do these things as required? Lighting during birth is generally low and this affects the quality and clarity of images, such that they can appear grainy and sometimes very soft. There are certain times where it may be preferable to bounce a flash to throw sufficient light into the shot to make the picture look less grainy and increase sharpness. These instances are reserved for times when it is unlikely to affect the birthing mother, and generally as the baby is being born. Are you happy for flash to be used in these situations? If I am unable to attend your labour and a back-up photographer was not requested, you are entitled to a Bonding Session where I photograph you & your baby within 48hrs of the birth. Are you happy for me to call you / your partner during this time to arrange our session and help coordinate any specific family members you would like in attendance? Question Title * 6. Please let me know your degree of acceptance in allowing me to utilise images from your session for marketing purposes. For any particularly graphic images, specific approvals are always sort from clients before use. It's important to note that some birth images can and have gone viral through social media avenues, generally for positive and empowering reasons.
