Two local elementary schools are seeking undergraduate and graduate students (postdocs, staff, and faculty also welcome) to lead activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for students in grades 3-5. Sessions will take place on Thursdays from 3:00-4:30pm (add time for travel/setup and cleanup) twice per month (once at each school) from October through April. We are looking for several general volunteers to assist current planned activities related to Edible School Yard programs, earth science (soil, weathering, rocks, fossils) and evolution. We also need students interested in designing and leading their own activities related to the topics most important to the schools. We would prefer volunteers committed to attending multiple sessions at one or both of the schools, but we will also accept one-time volunteers. Sessions will take place at Whitefoord Elementary School and Toomer Elementary School, both within 5 miles from Emory.
