Issues Related to Climate Change Adaptation: Water and Energy

Purpose and Scope

The European Water Partnership (EWP) has taken the initiative to create a European Dialogue Platform on Climate Change Adaptation: Water and Energy, focusing on identifying climate adaptation measures in fields linked to the both water and energy, as well as on issues encountered when implementing climate adaptation measures linked to water and energy use, consumption, management or production. The survey should take you no more than 10-15 minutes to complete. It is aimed at the following professionals involved in fields linked to water and energy:

-Water utilities
-Water managers
-Government bodies (local, regional, national, transnational) involved in water, energy and/or environmental policy
-International organisations dealing with water, energy management, and/or climate change
-Energy agencies
-Energy producers (hydropower, biofuels, nuclear, fossil fuels, renewables, heating and cooling, etc.)
-Energy utilities
-Energy transmission and distribution system operators
-Academia and research focusing on water, energy, and climate change issues.
-Civil society organizations dealing with water, energy management and/or climate change
-Agriculture
-Tourism
-Forestry (e.g.: the pulp and paper industry)
-Other water and energy users/consumers
-Other stakeholders involved in energy & water, and/or climate change related sectors.

The results of this survey will be analysed, and combined with those of a Policy Roundtable, taking place in Brussels on the 1st December 2011 (register at the following link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JKM2ZZM). This will lead to the drafting of a position paper integrating the most widely shared issues linked to climate change adaptation in the represented sectors. The aim is also to present existing adaptation measures (best/worst practices), gaps in legislative framework and implementation of legislation, and to propose recommendation for better integrated adaptation strategies in the water and energy sectors.
