ARCS is very excited to welcome Dr Ian Hudson, Chief Executive of the MHRA, to Australia to speak at the ARCS Scientific Congress in May.

Dr Ian Hudson became chief executive of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency in September 2013. He is a physician who practiced as a paediatrician for a number of years, before working in the pharmaceutical industry in clinical research and development between 1989 and 2001, when he joined the former Medicines Control Agency as director of its licensing division.
Before being appointed as chief executive, Ian was the agency’s licensing director, responsible for the majority of its medicines licensing activities. He was also the UK delegate to the Committee for Human Medicinal Products and was its vice chairman from October 2012 to September 2013.

Now, more than ever, the international regulatory environment should be of great interest to us here in Australia. The independent review of medicines and medical devices regulation is looking identifying opportunities for the TGA to work with trusted regulators in other jurisdictions, and exploring how risk assessments, standards and determinations of trusted regulators can be used more extensively by Australian regulators when approving the supply of medicines and medical devices. It’s likely that international Regulatory trends and changes will impact us in Australia more directly than ever.

With this in mind, we would like to assist you, our members, to get the best possible value from Dr Hudson’s visit by targeting the information he will share at the conference to your needs.
