Narec Distributed Energy (NDE) have created a one day course to teach installers the basics of the G59/3 process for connecting large generators (>16A / phase) to the electricity distribution grid. The course has run for three years, and NDE intend to map this into a nationally recognised accredited course.
The course includes the following:
• Introduction to the UK electrical power distribution system
• Role of the District Network Operators (DNOs)
• Network issues caused by embedded generation
• G83/2 for single and for multiple premises
• Technical requirements of G59/3
• Connection application process
• Introduction to witness testing requirements
