Metro and the City of Tigard have joined forces to purchase a 26-acre natural area located in the heart of Tigard, just to the east of the Tigard Public Library. Known as the "Fields Property," about 10 acres of the site consists of open fields; the remainder of the site is wooded and will become a publicly owned park and natural area. The Fanno Creek floodplain overlaps the western and southern boundaries of the property which is unique, not only for its size, but also because it will link to other segments of the Fanno Creek Greenway Trail.
This property is adjacent to a Metro-protected parcel that is in turn adjacent to Tigard’s Bonita Park at the north terminus of Milton Court. Together, this land totals 37 acres and incorporates significant natural resource values associated with Fanno Creek and the oak woodland, a habitat type identified regionally as a key conservation priority.
Metro and the City of Tigard have begun working through a process to identify a concept plan illustrating what the property uses will be. This work is currently in the idea stage and funds are not currently available to build anything. Still, this is an important stage and we would appreciate hearing from you.
Please take a few moments to provide your input on the development of this new property.
