Senior Project
Lynden High School

The Senior Project is a final process that confirms students' mastery of communitcations skills, time management skills, academic aptitudes, and personal planning skills.  This is currently a Lynden High School requirement for all graduates.  There are five components to the project:
1) Physical Project - an independent, outside project of choice - 15 hours minimum
2)  Papers - a collection of assessed works reflecting a variety of academic skills
3) Post-graduation - a plan for the next step after high school
4) Portfolio - an organized collection of the first three components
5) Presentation - a reflection and presentation of the project and student.

While we are still required by state to have students create a post-graduation plan and portfolio as a graduation requirement, the state no longer requires the 15-hour physical project as a part of that portfolio.

The following questions are to help the Learning Improvement Team determine what recommendations to make to the School Board regarding the components #1 and #5 above as Lynden High School graduation requirements.  Should we keep it as is, modify who does it and how it is done, or drop the requirement?  Please share your thinking with us.
