1. Which model of an Ombudsperson would you best prefer at Howard University?
2. How do you think the office of the Ombudsperson should function?
3. What type of educational and administrative training would you expect for an Ombudsperson at Howard University?
4. Should the Office of the Ombudsperson have the authority to investigate or begin an Ombuds process when he or she believes that there is an issue of unfairness (institutional policies, procedures, mandates, etc.), in the absence of formal complaint or complainant?
5. Should the Office of the Ombudsperson have an advisory group or legislative committee that provides advice and counsel for its operations?
6. Should the Office of the Ombudsperson have the authority to make public its recommendations or criticisms of the University?
7. Should the Office of the Ombudsperson report findings and recommendations as an advocate for the fairness of a process, as opposed to an advocate for one of the parties in a dispute?
8. Should the Office of the Ombudsperson be required to take direction from the University administration or governing board when conducting its duties?
