Listing and annotation: Cornstarch (native)
Use: As a nonorganically produced agricultural products allowed as an ingredient in or on processed products labeled as “organic" only when the product is not commercially available in organic form.
Common applications: Many containers are powdered with cornstarch to prevent sticking. The dietetic grade is marketed as Maizena and Mondamin. It is an absorbent dusting powder and a demulcent for irritated colons. May cause allergic reactions, including skin rashes and asthma. GRAS with GMP.
