This ANONYMOUS survey was developed with support from a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Digital Humanities Start-Up grant. You will not be identified and your response will be combined with those of all respondents.

THE SURVEY WILL TAKE ABOUT 20 MINUTES. THERE ARE 24 QUESTIONS.

Our aim is to identify potential paths for digital humanities to take hold on community colleges nationally.

WHAT IS "DIGITAL HUMANITIES"?

Definitions of the boundaries of this interdisciplinary and evolving field continue to be debated at universities and archives nationally and internationally. Many excellent definitions exist. CUNY Academic Commons is one good place to start: http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/wiki/index.php/Defining_the_Digital_Humanities

FOR THE PURPOSES OF OUR SURVEY AUDIENCE, Wikipedia’s definition is useful:

"Developing from the field of humanities computing, digital humanities embrace a variety of topics, from curating online collections to data mining large cultural data sets. Digital humanities (often abbreviated DH) currently incorporate both digitized and born-digital materials and combine the methodologies from traditional humanities disciplines (such as history, philosophy, linguistics, literature, art, archaeology, music, and cultural studies) and social sciences [1] with tools provided by computing (such as data visualisation, information retrieval, data mining, statistics, text mining) and digital publishing." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_humanities

JOIN OUR CONVERSATION AT THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE HUMANITIES ASSOCIATION NATIONAL CONFERENCE October 24-26, 2013
We will share our results and launch a strategic discussion about how to develop the presence of digital humanities in community colleges. The results will be a starting point
for these discussions, and combined with additional conversations, will lead to a white paper with recommendations for further areas of research and action.
