Building What Matters

Thank you for taking a few minutes to reflect ahead of our upcoming CAWES Board Retreat.

This short reflection activity is designed to help us understand what Board members are bringing into the room — what feels energizing, what feels unclear, what is working well, and what would make our time together most useful.

Our retreat, Building What Matters, will focus on strengthening board connection and culture, deepening shared understanding of governance and operations, and developing simple guiding principles for how the Board, Executive Director, and operations team support one another in service of CAWES’ mission.

There are no right or wrong answers here. Please respond based on your own experience and perspective.

Your responses will be reviewed by the facilitator and used to shape the retreat design. Themes may be summarized at a high level, but individual responses will not be attributed by name.

We expect this reflection activity will take approximately 20–30 minutes to complete. Please feel free to respond with as much or as little detail as you have space for — brief responses are just as valuable as longer ones.
