Welcome to the Bond Commission Application
You are being asked to provide this information because you have expressed interest in participating in the City of Hickory’s Bond Initiative. Your answers will provide necessary information to ensure City Council’s ability to establish a well-rounded and diverse Bond Commission.
IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN SERVING ON THE CITY COUNCIL APPOINTED COMMISSION, YOU DO NOT NEED TO FILL OUT THIS SURVEY.
The Bond Commission will be made up of 36 citizens and serve for staggered three year terms. We anticipate the Commission meeting quarterly and serve as an advisory board to the city on the following bond projects (1) the river walk (2) streetscapes, gateways, wayfinding; and (3) the city walk.
The purpose of the commission is to serve as a formal and instrumental means through which active citizen participation is provided to aid in the implementation of the designated bond projects.
The objectives of the commission will be to:
(1) Review and focus community input.
(2) Communicate accurate information about the bond projects and their respective budgets to the community.
(3) Provide guidance on communication to the community
(4) Provide feedback on designers’ project design concepts, high level budgeting priorities, timing of projects, and expenditures made on projects.
(5) Identify potential fundraising and public/private partnership opportunities.
