In 2012 I received numerous calls and e-mails from people complaining about the excessive number of political robo (pre-recorded) calls and surveys they received asking them to support various candidates. Also, they wondered how, and why, they were getting phone calls for candidates from outside the state of Connecticut.
Moreover, many of these individuals asked why political robo calls are currently excluded from the current list of telemarketers to whom people can put on the Do-Not-Call List.
In an attempt to remedy the burden of excessive political robo calls received, I am proposing legislation that allows individuals to add these calls to the Do-Not-Call List.
Adoption of this legislation will allow consumers to either accept or reject political robo phone calls.
