With few exceptions, doctors recommend that all children older than 6 months of age receive the flu vaccine. Some kids will need two doses to be protected. It depends on their age, whether they've received a flu vaccine before, and when those doses were given. If your child needs two, they should get the second vaccine at least 4 weeks after the first one.
