BEC CANDIDATE COMPETITION 2012
TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1) This competition is only open to individuals who are over 18 years of age when they make their entry to the competition and have taken a BEC examination and have been awarded a minimum of a Pass.

2) The first competition will open on 28th February 2012 and end at midnight GMT on 27th May 2012. All entries for the first competition must be received by midnight GMT 27th May 2012.

3) The second competition will open on 5th June 2012 and end at midnight GMT on 5th September 2012. All entries for the second competition must be received by midnight GMT 5th September 2012.

4) Entries must be submitted using the available designated entry submission form with an accompanying written entry or a video upload.
5) To make a valid entry, entrants must have completed all sections of the online entry form and added a written entry or uploaded a video. Incomplete entries will be disqualified from the competition. Entry forms for the first competition submitted after midnight GMT on 27th May 2012 will be disqualified from the competition. Entry forms for the second competition submitted after midnight GMT on 5th September 2012 will be disqualified from the competition. Entries made too late for the first competition will not automatically be entered for the second competition.

6) Only one entry will be accepted per person, 1 written entry or 1 video entry. The entry must be the original work of the entrant.

a) Video Entries from China

All Chinese candidate videos must be uploaded to www.youku.com following the instructions provided on the entry form. Videos uploaded for the first competition after midnight GMT on 27th May 2012 will be disqualified from the competition. Videos uploaded for the second competition after midnight GMT on 5th September 2012 will be disqualified from the competition. Entrants must include the link to their YouKu video in the correct field on the entry form. Failure to submit the link or links that are broken will disqualify the entry. Entrants must comply with all YouKu terms and conditions (http://www.youku.com/pub/youku/service/agreement.shtml).

b) Video Entries from rest of the world

All Global candidate videos must be uploaded to www.YouTube.com following the instructions provided on the entry form. Videos uploaded for the first competition after midnight GMT on 27th May 2012 will be disqualified from the competition. Videos uploaded for the second competition after midnight GMT on 5th September 2012 will be disqualified from the competition. Entrants must include the link to their YouTube video in the correct field on the entry form. Failure to submit the link or links that are broken will disqualify the entry. Entrants must comply with all YouTube terms and conditions (http://www.youtube.com/t/terms).

8) The submitted testimonial or video must be your own original work. You must obtain permission from any organisation, individual, company and similar featuring in your video. You must not infringe any third party rights or include any names, logos, or images without having written permission to do so which you can provide evidence of to Cambridge ESOL on request.


9) All written or video entries should take the criteria below into consideration when creating their entry video and mention at least one of the following:

• How BEC has helped me in my career
• Why I would you recommend BEC
• Why I chose BEC
• Why it’s important to study Business English

These are guidelines and should not be considered exclusive judging criteria.

10) Videos previously produced for compensation and/or copyrighted materials are not eligible and will be disqualified from the competition.

11) Only the entrant must be featured in the video.

12) The depiction of violence, profanities, sex or other offensive or abusive content, as well as the attack or discrimination of individuals or organisations will d
13) The submitted written entry must not exceed 200 words and videos must not exceed a length of 1 minute. Entries that exceed the maximum lengths will be disqualified.

14) The submitted entry must be an honest depiction of the truth. Cambridge ESOL reserves the right to verify the content of the video at its own discretion.

15) There are three first prizes for each separate competition which are Apple iPad 2, Wi-Fi, 16GB.

16) Winners will be chosen within 7 days of the applicable closing date.

17) If a winner cannot be contacted within 7 days of the applicable closing date their prize shall be forfeit and a replacement winning entry will be chosen.

18) Only winning entries will be contacted.

19) By submitting your entry you agree, if selected as a winner, to participate in all publicity reasonably requested by Cambridge ESOL including without limitation press, print and online publicity including publication of both your name and photo.

20) By submitting your entry you irrevocably and unconditionally waive all rights under Chapter IV of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. You further agree that your written entry or video may be used by Cambridge ESOL as a testimonial on any website or social media, with or without inclusion of your personal details.

21) Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged by a winner for cash or credit or any other product.

22) Cambridge ESOL reserves the right to cancel the competition at any time. No notification or correspondence will be entered into.

23) Cambridge ESOL reserves the right to substitute the prizes at any time.

24) Cambridge ESOL reserves the right to disqualify any entry that Cambridge ESOL believes in its sole discretion to be in breach of these terms and conditions.

25) Cambridge ESOL decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. This competition is subject to English law and jurisdiction.

26) Cambridge ESOL accepts no responsibility for any costs incurred by any entrant participating in this competition or in claiming their prize.

27) By submitting their entry, entrants accept the terms and conditions.

28) This competition is run by the Chancellor, Masters and Scholars of the University of Cambridge acting through Cambridge ESOL.
