The number of artists practising and/or living in Greater Manchester is currently unknown. 'Artists in Greater Manchester' aims to test census data collection methods and collect some data about the number of artists currently living and/or working in Greater Manchester.

The research is being undertaking by the Manchester Institute of Research and Innovation in Art and Design (MIRIAD) at Manchester Metropolitan University and Castlefield Gallery. It is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council's Cultural Engagement Fund. As we are using various networks and mailing lists to promote this study, we apologise if you have received this link a number a times. Please only complete the survey if you live and/or work as an artist in Greater Manchester.

The data collected will be anonymised in any resulting publications or discussions and will be used to help Castlefield Gallery and the Manchester Institute for Research and Innovation in Art and Design (MIRIAD) in their work with artists. Key findings will be shared with other arts organisations, including Local Authorities, to inform and promote wider knowledge exchange.

Your details will not be retained by Castlefield Gallery or MIRIAD unless you give permission for this by providing your contact details in Question 16, with automatic entries into 2 prize draws.

Your details will not be passed on to any other organisation unless you request for your email address to be added to the H. Blyth & Co. mailing list and prize draw in Question 17.

The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete and is open for six weeks until Friday 26th April 2013. Prize winners will be contacted after this date.

Update: The prize draws for this survey closed at midnight on Friday 26th April. The survey will remain live to capture data of artists who did not participate before this date, but you will not be eligible to enter the prize draws. Prize winners will be contacted shortly and announced on the Castlefield Gallery website in due course. A huge thank you goes to the 500+ artists who have already taken part.
