Aging Today, the bimonthly newspaper of the American Society on Aging that features stories highlighting ongoing work, trends, innovation and advancements in the field of aging, uses an Editorial Advisory Committee—distinguished academics, researchers, practice-oriented professionals, and policy experts from different areas in the field of aging that are instrumental in identifying article topics and writers for each issue.

* 4. Responsibilities of Aging Today Editorial Advisory Committee Members:

-Participate in the annual Spring meeting of the Advisory Committee (held in conjunction with the Aging in America Conference); or, if you cannot attend the meeting, you may confer with Aging Today editors by phone or e-mail, as needed.

-Participate in a group process for Aging Today issues, themes and topic selection.

-Act as a contact for prospective authors and guest editors.

-Upon occasion, act as guest editor for issues of Aging Today that delve into your topic of expertise and especial interest. Guest editing is a flexible role, dependent upon a committee members' time availability and/or personal preference: it can involve simply brainstorming about story ideas and writers with the Aging Today editors, or assigning stories and shepherding them through the first draft.

-Promote and support the publication’s high editorial standards.

-Critique already published issues with the aim of improving content relevance.

-By completing this application I affirm that I have read, understand and will carry out these responsibilities if chosen to serve on the Committee.
