Introduction

The First Nations Energy and Mining Council (FNEMC), in collaboration with the Fraser Basin Council, is undertaking a Labour Market Study exploring Aboriginal youth and employment in the energy industry.

Energy is an important part of the BC economy and First Nations, with a large and fast growing population of young people seeking to enter the labour market, will be a critical factor in the long-term growth and prosperity of the energy sector.

The FNEMC, with its mandate from all 203 Chiefs in British Columbia, is working to develop a strategic plan that will support First Nations throughout the province to fully realize and benefit from the economic and employment opportunities that will result from these developments.

The following survey is intended to assist FNEMC and the Fraser Basin Council, in gaining a greater understanding of the requirements of the private sector in working with First Nation communities to develop energy opportunities and that have an interest or are currently employing and training Aboriginal youth.

The survey will only take a few minutes of your time and will be kept in the strictest of confidence.
