Arlington County staff is proposing an increase in ART bus fares that would go into effect on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. This would be the first time that ART has increased bus fares since 2010. The additional revenue generated from the increased fares would be partially used to cover the cost of additional ART bus services.
Staff is proposing that the ART base fare increase from $1.50 to $1.75. The ART discounted fare for seniors, middle and high school students, and people with disabilities would increase from $0.75 to $0.85. If approved, this fare increase would go into effect on July 1, 2014.
