BACKGROUND & INTRODUCTION
With membership of over 4,000 past students, Ascham Old Girls' (AOGU) play a valuable role in the school community, imparting their knowledge and experiences through the careers program for senior girls, and by operating the Old Girls’ Scholarship program. The AOGU encourages involvement of all past students, helping you remain in contact with classmates, and be involved with the wider Ascham community. Many events, reunions, social gatherings take place in Sydney, Regional NSW, as well as interstate and overseas.
In recent years the AOGU has introduced new activities and services, with the aim of continually improving our services to members and broadening our activities to appeal to Old Girls of all ages and stages in their personal lives and careers.
INTRODUCING A BUSINESS NETWORK
In 2012 we would like to introduce a Business Network, recognising the value to Ascham Old Girls of developing strong support networks throughout their careers and connecting them with like-minded alumni, whether in business, the arts or sciences, law or finance, industry or education. To help us know where to start and what’s of greatest interest, we are seeking your input through this online survey.
There is a range of activities and services that the Business Network could offer depending on your level of interest. They could include -
• Professional networking opportunities
• Business and career mentoring
• Assisting women planning or on a career break, and in re-entering the workforce
• Participating in the senior school careers program
• Helping Ascham Old Girls transition from university to the workforce
• Volunteer and community work opportunities
• Email newsletter update of events and opportunities
• Online forum discussion groups, updates and links.
The network could be a useful resource for members of the Ascham community who wish to give preference to the Ascham Old Girls when sourcing products and services. We also would like to consider developing a regional career, professional and business support program providing support to country Old Girls, as well as connecting Old Girls who are living interstate and overseas.
