Question Title

* 4. What would you like to see – a scan that is integrated into the dispensing process, or something that has the minimum impact on pharmacy operations, such as a scan at entry to pharmacy?

Question Title

* 5. It has been suggested that if a wholesaler scanned a product before delivering it to the pharmacy, and with the order sent a barcode that could be scanned to confirm the authentication of all products supplied, this would be a good way to minimise the burden on pharmacy. We have not had confirmation that such a system would comply with the EU regulations, but if it were possible, do you think it would be helpful if you could receive stock pre-scanned by your full-line wholesaler?

Question Title

* 6. We need to address the question of the database itself. This database will hold details of dispensing data of all pharmacies. This will be commercially sensitive data. Through work with manufacturers and the European Commission we have secured agreement that your commercially-sensitive data should remain under your control. But do you think that as your representative body we should take a role in overseeing the management of the database, to ensure that it is not being used to undermine pharmacy interests? We have been discussing joint pharmacy, wholesaler and manufacturer oversight of the database – do you think this would be valuable? If not, do you feel that someone else should oversee the database (eg, Government, MHRA, the manufacturers alone?)
