Abercrombie development project: Pedestrian and cyclist access strategy feedback form

As part of the NSW Planning Assessment Commission’s conditions of approval for the development of the Abercrombie Development Project, The University of Sydney is committed to providing $2 million dollars for upgrades in the Darlington precinct.

The upgrades will increase safety and convenience for pedestrians and cyclists in the area and will complement other improvement works being planned by Council. The Department of Planning & Infrastructure has specified that these works are to have a direct relationship to the University’s Abercrombie project. The University of Sydney has contracted Parking and Traffic Consultants to identify some initial pedestrian and cycle opportunities.

Whilst this work is specific to the Abercrombie project, the University is also currently preparing a Campus Improvement Program 2014-2020 (CIP). The CIP will address plans to prioritise and upgrade vehicle, cycle and pedestrian facilities through the Darlington and Camperdown campuses and to link these with the City of Sydney’s planned works.

We also invite your suggestions on the development of these improvements.

We would like to hear what you think and this is a great opportunity for you to provide valuable feedback to help build on both the City of Sydney’s and the University’s goals to support resident’s desire to engage in walking and cycling as a lifestyle choice and to increase the amenity and functionality of the surrounding neighbourhood.

The University of Sydney greatly appreciates your participation. Please fill out this survey by 20 May, 2013.
