Starting August 2015, Eastern Virginia Medical School is extending its Master of Surgical Assisting Bridge Program to trained Surgical Assistants who did not graduate from the EVMS Surgical Assisting program. While EVMS’s primary focus is to train highly competent assistants at surgery, the Bridge Program is designed to address the growing needs in the surgical assisting profession particularly in the areas of teaching, management of health services, and leadership in the profession. Participants in the EVMS Bridge Program will complete coursework in these growing areas of the surgical assisting profession which can provide them with additional growth opportunities in their careers.
