Arts-in-Healthcare

Did you know that the Arts can enhance health and healing?

A growing body of evidence recognizes that the arts play a relevant and beneficial role in health care. The NH State Council on the Arts ardently supports the valuable and important work of visual and performing artists in healing, and is pleased to be partnering with Concord Hospital to host the NH Arts in Healthcare Symposium on June 7, 2013. (Note that space will be limited, with priority given to leaders in health care organizations).

In preparation for the Symposium, we hope to gather information and stories from hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, nonprofit organizations, and local arts and cultural organizations around New Hampshire, as well as from artists who are experienced or interested in engaging in this work. We are particularly interested in examples of the arts enhancing wellness, health, and healing in health care settings.

Ultimately, we hope to increase public and/or private investment to advance the presence of the Arts in healthcare settings.

Your participation in this brief survey will help us highlight best arts-in-healthcare practices in New Hampshire, craft policies, identify funding resources, and connect people who want to learn more about this exciting and meaningful work. Examples [with permission] and aggregate results will be shared at the Symposium and will be available this Spring on the website of the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts. We welcome a broad range of voices, and hope you will forward this survey to your colleagues. Thank you for participating! PLEASE REPLY BY MAY 1, 2013.
