Dear State of Illinois Employee,
Thank you for joining me in taking the 2012 Green Pledge for Illinois. By completing this survey you are pledging to do your part for the environment and make Illinois a more sustainable place to live, work and visit.
There are suggested actions in the categories of:
* Energy Efficiency
* Water Conservation
* Waste Reduction and Recycling
* Community Involvement
* Local Foods
* Green Purchasing
At the end you will be asked to sign this pledge by giving your name, agency and email address. There is also a place for you to enter any questions or concerns you may have.
Be realistic: If a "green" practice described here or elsewhere is too impractical or too expensive, then recognize the big picture instead of giving up completely. Protecting the environment is an ongoing process that requires commitment from the entire community (including you!), so play as active a role as possible in that process.
Every action counts – even those that may appear small. When multiplied by the number of times they are made every day, they can have significant implications for the environment and quality of life for everyone.
Thank you and Happy Earth Day
Governor Pat Quinn
