Survey Introduction
Please read this consent agreement carefully before you decide to participate in the study.
Purpose of the research study: The purpose of the study is to understand differences in climate change attitudes, stress, and coping styles.
What you will do in the study: During this study you will be asked to read and respond to several sets of questions and information about organizations and the environment. We ask you to read all of the information contained in the materials carefully and thoughtfully. You can skip any questions that make you feel uncomfortable and you can stop the survey at any time. All responses will be completely anonymous and confidential.
Time required: The study will require less than 20 minutes of your time.
Risks: We do not foresee that you run any kind of risk by taking part in this study.
Benefits: There are no direct benefits to you for participating in this research study.
Confidentiality: The information that you give in the study will be handled confidentially. Your data will be confidential which means that your name or any personally identifying information will not be linked to the answers you provide. There is a section at the end of the survey for OPTIONAL self-identification. Please complete this section ONLY if you agree to be contacted by the investigators for response clarification or brief additional qualitative questions relating to this survey.
Voluntary participation: Your participation in the study is completely voluntary.
Right to withdraw from the study: You have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without penalty. How to withdraw from the study: If you would like to withdraw from the study, notify the experimenter or leave any comments in the comment box at the end of the survey. There is no penalty for withdrawing. If you would like to withdraw after your materials have been submitted, please contact Professor Kieran O’Connor at oconnor@virginia.edu. Upon your withdrawal you will be fully debriefed about the study and your data destroyed.
Payment: There is no payment for this short survey. We appreciate your voluntary participation in this research study, and think that your participation will be invaluable in our research to better understand these topics.
