The Department of Optometry & Vision Sciences at the University of Melbourne is seeking Optometrists interested in becoming involved in its Doctor of Optometry Intern Placement Program.

External Internships are an integral component of the Doctor of Optometry (OD) program. The final year of our four-year postgraduate course is an intensive clinical Internship year with Interns being exposed to clinical practice in various external practice settings.

The OD program admits postgraduate Interns who have a mature commitment to their professional pathway. Our 4th year Interns are self-directed learners.

All Interns will undertake two, two-week placements, throughout the year, in rural based optometry practices. The two-week block enables the Interns to have continuity, gain a better understanding of the community and appreciate how a rural practice operates.

Should you have enquiries about the program, either before or after completing this survey, please contact a Clinical Placement Coordinator:
Ms Anthea Cochrane - antheac@unimelb.edu.au or Ms Julie Martin - martinja@unimelb.edu.au
