Welcome to the Shaping Sustainable Markets survey. Shaping Sustainable Markets is the new flagship research project from the Sustainable Markets Group at IIED.
We explore the use, impact and effectiveness of market governance mechanisms – like carbon trading, certification and payments for environmental services – on sustainable development. Through research we identify which mechanisms are working well and which are not. We also propose ideas for new mechanisms that could work to support positive environmental and social outcomes. Ultimately, we want to improve how market governance mechanisms are designed.
