Gender in Diagnostic Imaging

The main focus of our group to date has been in identifying areas of research focus in which gender may (or should) impact diagnostic imaging choices, particularly the use of CT scanning when gender may influence both risk and diagnostic yield. We would like to discuss the prioritization of the following areas identified:
1) CT in suspected pulmonary embolism (PE)
2) CT in suspected renal colic
3) CT vs. ultrasound first in lower abdominal pain
4) Evaluation of acute coronary syndrome
In addition to these imaging areas we would like to discuss the importance of research into how gender - of both provider and patient - may impact shared decision making in imaging choices in the emergency department.
