The Colorado Department of Education Office of School Nutrition (CDE OSN) was recently awarded a 2014 Competitive Team Nutrition Training Grant to provide school districts with evidence-based training and technical assistance that foster student wellness and academic achievement. Through the use of funds provided by the 2014 TNTG, the CDE OSN aims to address Team Nutrition’s behavior-focused strategies while achieving the following goals: (1) ensure that Colorado schools participating in the National School Lunch and/or Breakfast Programs (NSLP/SBP) have Local School Wellness Policies (LWPs) in place that are aligned with the requirements set forth in the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (HHFKA) of 2010; (2) increase the number of HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) awarded schools in Colorado to recognize schools that are prioritizing nutrition and physical activity; (3) encourage Colorado schools to adopt Smarter Lunchroom strategies to guide students to make smarter food choices in school; and (4) improve the nutritional quality of all foods and beverages sold in schools by ensuring that Colorado schools are in compliance with the Smart Snacks in School Interim Final Rule.

The survey below is intended to assess the LWP, HUSSC, Smarter Lunchrooms, and Smart Snacks training and technical assistance needs of school districts across the state. Thank you for your participation!
