Lunt Meadows |
Deciphering the cultural and natural heritage of Lunt Meadows
In July 2014, Lancashire Wildlife Trust are taking on the management of Lunt Meadows, a wetland site that has been created by The Environment Agency as a flood alleviation scheme. During the monitoring of digging works, 3 important early pre-historic hunter-gatherer settlements were identified by National Museums Liverpool, containing rare archaelogical hunter gather evidence dating from 8000 years ago!
We would like to carry out further research and identify ways in which we can people to learn about this important historical find, learn about what life would have been like living in the area 8000 years ago alongside how we are helping wildlife live here today. We want to help people to appreciate how important this site is already becoming for a wealth of birds, dragonflies, water voles and plants that are already making a home here.
We hope that people will come and use this site not just to learn about the heritage and appreciate wildlife but also as a place to relax or to exercise, and we would like to see people benefiting from ways in which they can get involved, creating a place loved by both people and wildlife.
We would like to apply to Heritage Lottery Fund to give us the ability to carry out more research, interpret what we find, and get more people involved to create a place that people enjoy and cherish. Your views are extremely important to us and will help prove a need to our proposed future activity.
Please spare us a few minutes by filling out this questionnaire, and sharing with others so that we get a good response proving the importance of future activity planned for this site.
The deadline for completed surveys is Tuesday 15th July 2014.
