Consent Form

RESEARCH PROCEDURES: This research is being conducted to examine the impact of women taking on the role of breadwinner and husbands staying home to take care of the children on the marriage dynamic. If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete a brief survey to provide your individual background information and willingness to participate in a 2 hour one-on-one interview as a couple. The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete.

RISKS: There are no foreseeable risks for participating in this research. You may experience discomfort in discussing situations that may have been stressful.

BENEFITS: There are no benefits to you as a participant other than to further research with potential to improve communication for other couples considering the same situation or currently in the same situation. These benefits include the design of educational and training programs with potential to improve communication and engagement for couples.
CONFIDENTIALITY: The data in this study will be confidential. We will not ask for your name or any other identifying information except for contact purposes if you agree to participate in the interviews. While it is understood that no computer transmission can be perfectly secure,
reasonable efforts will be made to protect the confidentiality of your transmission.

PARTICIPATION: Your participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw from the study at any time and for any reason. If you decide not to participate or if you withdraw from the study, there is no penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled. There are no costs to you or any other party.
