Dear Parent/Guardian,

Houghton Lake Community Schools has received funding from a SAMHSA Safe Schools Healthy Students (SSHS) Federal Grant that was awarded to the Michigan Department of Education. Over the next four years, this federal grant funding will allow us to work with community partners to implement programs and practices that will foster safe and healthy schools and communities as well as positive student outcomes.

A key element of the initiative is connecting families, schools, and communities. We are fortunate to have the guidance and expertise of Parent Action for Healthy Kids (PAFHK) for this important element. This parent survey is an important first step to guide us in strengthening our connection to our students' families. For your convenience and to insure we receive as high a response rate as possible, this survey has been distributed in many ways (mailed home, on-line and at Parent Teacher Conferences).
