Welcome to the Youth Leadership Institute's 20th Anniversary Gala Nominations Page! Here you will be able to nominate a young person to potentially receive one of four prestigious awards at the Gala event.
Each of the 4 youth awards has an accompanying scholarship of $500.
THE NOMINATIONS DEADLINE IS MONDAY, AUGUST 22ND, AT 12NOON, PST.
Submissions will only be accepted via Survey Monkey, and it is recommended to complete responses in a Word document and then transfer into Survey Monkey (via cut and paste). Feel free to scroll through the survey to preview questions before finalizing submissions.
Adult Allies may submit multiple nominations for youth though only 4 awardees will be granted scholarships.
Please be mindful of the following eligibility requirements for all nominees:
1) Applicants must be 12-19 years of age, this includes middle school students, high school students or recent 2011 high school graduates.
2) Applicants may be either YLI program participants or youth from partner organizations whom have received training or evaluation assistance from YLI, to partner on a successful project or initiative.
Awards will be judged on the following criteria:
1) Discovery of leadership potential: how involvement with a YLI program, project or initiative has demonstrated growth in their community or civic leadership
2) Teamwork: Commitment to collaboration with other youth leaders and with partner organizations
3) Achievement: Ability to demonstrate not only the contributions made but also positive changes that resulted in the community
4) Diversity and Hardships: Ability to demonstrate work in low-income, immigrant and or communities of color as a member of that community or an ally.
