The Tri-Sovereign Coordinating Committee (Department of Ecology, Oregon Department of Water Resources, and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) Department of Natural Resources) is seeking qualified individuals to serve on the Walla Walla Water 2050 Advisory Committee (AC). The AC will be established to provide advice and consensus-based recommendations to the Tri-Sovereigns responsible for water management within the Walla Walla Watershed Basin.  The initial focus of the AC will be to provide advice and recommendations on the implementation and advancement of the Walla Walla Water 2050 Strategic Plan.
Selection Process:
  1. Interested parties should submit an interest form by October 29, 2021.
  2. The Tri-Sovereigns will collate all responses and submit to existing members of the Strategic Plan Advisory Committee (SPAC).
  3. SPAC members will review the list of interested persons and submit recommendations for AC membership.
  4. Tri-Sovereigns will review recommendations and distribute AC invitations by December 10, 2021.
  5. The new WWBAC membership will begin meeting in January 2022.
Criteria:
The Tri-Sovereigns are seeking representatives from diverse interest groups who can meet the following criteria:
  • Is recognized as a key leader of the interest they represent who can speak effectively for that interest or entity.
  • Demonstrates a track record and a commitment to engaging with members of their interest group to keep them informed of WWWAC efforts, solicit input on issues discussed, and share this input with the AC..
  • Ability and commitment to engage in education and outreach to the interests they represent and to the broader community, including connecting with interest group outside of AC meetings.
  • Ability to commit to a 2-year term and to regularly attend AC meetings and at least one Working Group.
  • Willingness to rely on consensus decision-making and be a productive and constructive participant in the process.
  • Brings a track-record and commitment to building partnerships and connections to ensure outcomes that benefit the entire basin including efforts to:
    • Holistically address the basin’s longstanding struggle to address instream and out-of-stream uses to ensure enough water for fish, farms, and people.
    • Identify and prioritize actions need to implement the Strategic Plan.
  • Effectiveness in advocating for the Strategic Plan to drive legislative and funding support.
