Conditions of Participation - Volunteer

It is understood...

The school is responsible for the project and its volunteers. To obtain further information or share your comments on the Waterloo Regional Walking School Bus (WRWSB), please contact the person in charge of the Walking School Bus committee at the school.

All volunteers who walk with the children are parents and/or members of the community. They receive road safety training, are obligated to wear the yellow vest provided, and are subject to a vulnerable sector check.

By accepting these conditions of participation, you acknowledge that the WRWSB does not completely eliminate normal (or inherent) risk and you waive any and all claims against the school and school board, employees and officials, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and the Waterloo Regional Block Parent Program (WRBPP), as a result of any injury, illness, death or damage that may result directly or indirectly from your participation in this project.

You give the school, CCS and WRBPP permission to photograph or film you during your participation in the WRWSB, and give your full consent to use any photo or video of you in communications about the program.

The school, CCS and WRBPP are committed to ensuring the confidentiality and security of personal information related to volunteers and participating children. The information provided is protected and will not be shared with any other organization.

From time to time, WRWSB partners may contact people who have provided personal information on its website and who have agreed to be contacted for their input. These surveys are designed to enhance our services. While aggregate data collected as part of these surveys may be made public, no personal data will be disclosed to anyone.

The CCS may later contact people who registered online for WRWSB to provide information on various issues. THe CCS may get in touch by mail, phone or e-mail. If you do not want WRWSB and the CCS to contact you or publish WRWSB photos or film of you, we will respect your decision. Please let us know by contacting us at wsb@ontario.cancer.ca

At all times, the privacy and dignity of the volunteer will be respected. As a volunteer with the school, you are likely to have access to personal and confidential information and documents pertaining to its students and volunteers. It is therefore essential to take reasonable measures to protect and maintain total confidentiality
