You have been invited to take part in a research study examining the factors that influence people's desire to pair up with other people. Participation will involve rating the attractiveness of faces and descriptions of members of the opposite sex. We will also ask for some demographic information including your sex, gender, sexuality, age, and country of current residence, as well as information about you, your partner (if you have one) and your physical appearance. We will not be able to identify you from the answers to these questions.

People over the age of 18 are invited to participate. No risks of participating in this study have been identified, although if you are uncomfortable providing information about your sexuality or what you find attractive, or your own appearance, then it is recommended that you not participate. Participation should take approximately 15 minutes.

There is no payment for participating in this study.

The chief investigator is a final year psychology student undertaking this research as part of their degree requirements. The data collected will form part of their dissertation and may be used for publication in peer-reviewed journals and/or for presentation at conferences.

Your confidentiality is assured as you are not required to enter your name and your data will be stored without identifying information. Participation is entirely voluntary and you are free to withdraw from participation at any time during the study without consequence, simply by closing your browser window. Due to the anonymous nature of the study you will be unable to withdraw your data once it has been submitted.

By progressing beyond this information statement you are indicating your informed consent to participate in this study. If you wish to ask any questions prior to participating please contact either of the named researchers above.
