ABOUT THE SURVEY
Wildlife and ecotourism offer extraordinary opportunities to experience, study and protect the natural world. However, these environments can also present unique challenges relating to personal safety, professional boundaries and accountability.
This global survey aims to investigate the prevalence and nature of sexual harassment and sexual assault within wildlife and ecotourism, including the experiences of tourists, industry professionals, volunteers, interns and students.
WHAT WE WANT TO UNDERSTAND
We are particularly interested in understanding where these experiences occur, who is responsible, whether incidents are reported, how organisations respond, and the consequences for those affected. You do not need to have experienced sexual harassment or assault to participate. Responses from individuals who have not experienced these behaviours are equally important.
PARTICIPATION
Participation is voluntary. Some questions address potentially distressing experiences, including unwanted sexual contact and sexual assault. You may skip questions or exit the survey at any time. Responses will be used to produce aggregate statistics and identify opportunities to improve safety and accountability across the sector.
PRIVACY
Your privacy is important to us. This survey is ANONYMOUS. It does not ask you to provide your name or the names of individuals or organisations involved in any experiences you describe.
Survey responses will be treated confidentially and analysed collectively. Findings will be reported as aggregated statistics wherever possible. Anonymous excerpts from written responses may only be used where you have explicitly given permission.
Survey data will be stored securely and access will be limited to those responsible for conducting and analysing the survey. Data will be retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes of this project and will then be securely deleted.
By continuing, you acknowledge that you have read this information and voluntarily consent to participate.
