What’s wheelie in your bin? A survey about your waste at home and beyond.

We want to know how you manage waste and recycling at your place. What's difficult and what would make it easier for you to recycle more, and send less waste to landfill? Your feedback is important to us. Plus you can win a $100 voucher by filling out the survey.*

This survey is open to residents who:

a) live in the following Council areas of: Ballina Shire, Byron Shire, Lismore City, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Kyogle or Tweed Shire; AND

b) have at least 1 household kerbside bin available to use - a landfill bin, a recycling (yellow lid) bin and/or a Food Organics and Garden Organics - FOGO (green lid) bin.

If you do not have a kerbside bin service, or are a commercial customer, we ask that you not respond to this survey.

Answers are treated confidentially and will only be used to assess how best we can support resource recovery in our region.

WIN!!!: One survey respondent from each Council area will win a $100 voucher from the supermarket of their choice which will be drawn on the 9th November.

NOTE RE TERMINOLOGY:
For the purposes of the survey, the following terms apply:

Landfill bin - refers to kerbside general rubbish bin;
Recycling bin - refers to kerbside yellow-lid recycling bin;
FOGO bin - refers to kerbside Food Organics and Garden Organics bin (usually lime green lid);
Problem waste - includes paints, oils, batteries, fluoro lightbulbs, aerosols, gas bottles and smoke detectors.

Your feedback is important. This information will be used to improve the way we provide information to you.

Our region has a higher resource recovery rate than the NSW state average. However, we can do even better as too much food and recycling is ending up in our landfill bins. This survey will help us understand why as we aim to achieve a 80% recovery of resources from landfill in our region for the future.

Separating your food scraps, garden organics and recycling does make a big difference– it reduces emissions, saves water, energy and resources. Please rest assured that our recycling is NOT going to landfill in the Northern Rivers region, and the contents of your green lid FOGO bin is turned into compost to be used by our farmers.
