Watkins Woolen Mill State Park and Historic Site CDP Survey #2

Introduction

Conceptual development plans (CDPs) guide the future use and development at each state park and historic site. CDPs support the mission, purpose and direction of each facility. These long-range plans outline area use, site goals, development objectives, research needs and project phasing while taking into consideration the significant natural, cultural and recreational resources of the park or site. This survey is part of the division’s ongoing effort to ensure that the public has input on state park and historic site development.

Site Mission
The mission of Watkins Woolen Mill State Park and Historic Site is to preserve and interpret the historic structures, surviving remnants, cultural landscapes, and relevant artifacts associated with the mill, plantation, and the Watkins family, with emphasis on the last half of the 19th century. Recreational opportunities consistent with the facility’s historic character and carrying capacity of the property will be provided.
