Background Information

Climate change, increased urbanization and increased world population are several of the factors driving global challenges for water management. In fact, the World Economic Forum has cited “The Water Supply Crises” as a major risk to global economic growth and environmental policies in the next 10 years.

To this challenge, “Waternomics”, an EU FP7 funded project, will develop and introduce ICT as an enabling technology to; manage water as a resource, increase end-user conservation awareness and affect behavioural changes, and to avoid waste through leak detection. In saving water, energy will also be conserved (treatment and pumping) as will the CO2 associated with energy production.

As part of the development of this platform, it is important to understand the wants and needs of the customers. We have already conducted internal stakeholder surveys to identify the key areas of interest. We have also compiled some of the key performance indicators (KPI's) which are of interest to various stakeholders. By filling out this survey, you can help contribute to improving our understanding of your needs as a potential user of the Waternomics platform, and thus, allow us to improve the quality and functionality of the final product.

Pilot sites
Four pilot sites will be used to develop and test the Waternomics platform. The aim is to develop a platform which addresses the needs of a range of stakeholders across the spectrum (domestic users, corporate/utilities, students/teachers, and the general public). This will be achieved by developing applications specific to the needs of each stakeholder within these user groups.
