Numerous LauderServ requests have been entered for additional stop signs and speed humps within Victoria Park (9 requests from 02/18/20 to 12/11/20). For each of these, the city normally conducts traffic studies and determines whether to install additional stop signs, speed humps, and other road calming projects that the Transportation and Mobility Department has received. The requests would make an intersection an ALL WAY junction (e.g., 1 to 3 and 2 to 4). However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, Broward County suspended conducting traffic studies for the past 9 months. City wide, there is a list of more than seventy locations pending traffic studies.
In order to understand what additional needs are warranted, the VPCA Board wants to canvass our members to obtain their input and views. From the survey, we will then prioritize the requests and discuss the identified traffic studies requests with the city. Topics of discussion include the impacts that they may have on the VPCA neighborhood and which traffic studies (if any) will VPCA still like to advance for city action. The VPCA Board wants to present an all-inclusive view of our needs, including the impact that little, no, or untimely road communications from the city and county have on our residents.
Please note, while the county has resumed conducting traffic studies, if the determination for a stop sign fails and criteria for speed humps is not met, there will be a ten-month to one-year wait time before another study is conducted by Broward County for a specific request. Given this, it is vital that the responses to the survey truly consider the real impact of these traffic studies during the current detour routes, utility construction projects, and when regular traffic conditions return.
Please complete the Survey no later than April 30th, 2021 by indicating the priority for reviewing each request from VERY NEEDED to NOT NEEDED.
