Thanks for your interest in volunteering for Housing and Homelessness Advocacy Day!

Here's some info about crucial roles:

Morning shift: Are you an early bird? Or do you live near the capitol? A dedicated group of 8-10 volunteers is needed bright and early to get the day off to a smooth start. Morning volunteers will work with Housing Alliance staff at either the registration/check-in table or to help keep the coffee and breakfast snacks flowing.

Lunch distribution: 2-3 volunteers will help Housing Alliance staff set up and hand out 600 lunches in under an hour! This is a short but fast-paced volunteer shift.

Legislative district leads: If you've been to Advocacy Day before and are ready to take the next step, this role may be for you. LD leads facilitate a short prep meeting with their district group, and then their group's meetings with legislators. Housing Alliance staff will provide information and advice in advance of the day to support you in this role. At least one lead is needed for each of the 49 districts in the state, districts with lots of advocates attending should have two - that's 50-60 people! Prep meetings are at 9:30 am, and legislator meetings may be scheduled anytime from 10am-2:30pm.

Prep work parties: If you are in the Seattle area and want to help out with essential tasks in preparation for Advocacy Day, consider this option in addition to volunteer roles on the day itself. A few evenings in January, we'll gather at the Housing Alliance office to cut the signature Advocacy Day red scarves and stuff materials into the advocate folders, with good snacks and great people. Come for one or all of the parties, the more the merrier (and easier!).
