Many of our parking spaces are far from the library entry. This is especially problematic for people with limited mobility, parents with children, and anyone during poor weather. We are considering providing an entry that is more centrally located with respect to the parking lot.

Our small group meeting rooms are heavily used and fill up quickly. There is an ongoing need for more small group rooms that accommodate from 1 to 6 people.

The library frequently runs out of meeting room space for mid-size meetings for groups of 6 to 30 people. These can include classes, workshops, homeowner’s associations, and other organizations.

Places for creative activities are important parts of a modern library. We are looking at additional space that could support activities like 3D printing, laser cutting, video creation, video editing, virtual reality, music creation, and arts and crafts projects.

* 7. Venue for cultural and entertainment events
 
The Library District is considering expanding its ability to host cultural and entertainment events by providing a space that would seat up to 150. This would be a flexible environment with a stage, good sound and high-quality lighting. It could host small concerts, recitals, films, lectures and culinary arts demonstrations. This space would double as a large meeting room.

The library grounds include a good amount of open space. Perhaps some of it could be configured for outdoor classes, performances, movies, concerts, outdoor story time, or for passive uses such as walking paths, gardens and outdoor seating.

There are many features that could minimize the environmental impact of the library. Some entail a higher first cost but may be at least partially offset by operational savings over time. Should we make sustainable design a priority?

There is not currently a dedicated teen space in the library. We are considering a space that provides teen with an environment suitable for individual and group study and socializing.
